NEW YORK, September 5, 2018-The Secretary-General commends the people of Mauritania for the peaceful conduct of parliamentary, regional and municipal elections in the country on 1 September, which saw broad participation of political parties.
He encourages all parties to continue to act in a peaceful manner during and after the announcement of the results. He further calls on political leaders and electoral contestants to resolve disputes through dialogue and in accordance with the law.

24 August 2018-The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack by armed elements against a convoy of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) which took place on 23 August 2018 in Pavika (prefecture of Basse-Kotto, in the south-east of the Central African Republic) and resulted in one Burundian peacekeeper killed.
