Security Council Press Statement on Attack against Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic
NEW YORK, 3 JUNE- The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack on 3 June 2018 by armed elements against a patrol of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the village of Dilapoko (prefecture of Mambere-Kadei) in the west of the Central African Republic, which resulted in one Tanzanian peacekeeper killed and 7 others injured. NEW YORK, 4 June 2018-The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack on 3 June by armed elements on a United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) patrol in the west of the country. The attack resulted in the killing of a peacekeeper from Tanzania and the wounding of seven others. This brings to four the number of peacekeepers killed in targeted attacks in the Central African Republic since January 2018.
The Secretary-General pays tribute to all of the courageous men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of peace in the Central African Republic. He offers his deepest condolences to the bereaved family as well as to the Government of Tanzania, and wishes a swift recovery to the injured. Continue reading →

Dar es Salaam, 31 May 2018- The Chief of Africa Section in the UN Conference on Trade and Development, Mr. Junior Davis today presented the Economic Development in Africa Report for 2018 titled Migration for Structural Transformation before participants including the media at the International Labour Organization in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
The report was launched globally by the UNCTAD Secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi in Addi Ababa Ethiopia. During the pre-launch press conference of the UNCTAD report 2018, participants from embassies, media house and civil society organizations engaged in discussions on the positive opportunities for migrants.
