The secretary-general Message on World Refugee Day

NEW YORK, 20 June 2017-World Refugee Day is an expression of solidarity with people who have been uprooted from their homes by war or persecution.

The latest figures from the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, show that at least 65.6 million people — 1 of every 113 members of the human family — have been forcibly displaced within their own countries or across borders. Continue reading

Dar es Salaam, 14 June, 2017-Waziri wa Mambo ya Nje na Ushirikiano wa Afrika Mashariki, Balozi Augustine Mahiga alipokea hati za utambulisho za mwakilishi mpya wa Shirika la Umoja wa Mataifa la kuendeleza viwanda nchini Tanzania (UNIDO) siku ya Jumatano wizarani kwake jijini Dar es Salaam.

Balozi Mahiga alielezea kwamba mapokezi ya kiongozi huyo, aitwaye Dr. Stephen Kargbo kutoka nchini Sierra Leone, Afrika Magharibi, yanakuja wakati muafaka ambapo Tanzania imetangaza mkakati wa kuendeleza viwanda. Continue reading

The secretary-General Message for the 100-day countdown to the International Day of Peace

NEW YORK-13 June 2017,Upon taking up my duties as Secretary-General in January of this year, my very first act was to issue an appeal for peace — a call on citizens, governments and leaders everywhere to put peace first.

The International Day of Peace, observed every year on 21 September, embodies our shared aspiration to end the needless suffering caused by armed conflict.  It offers a moment for the peoples of the world to acknowledge the ties that bind them together, irrespective of their countries of origin.  It is a day on which the United Nations calls for a 24-hour global ceasefire, with the hope that one day of peace can lead to another, and another, and ultimately to a stilling of the guns.

International Albinism Awareness Day commemorated in Tanzania

Dar es salaam, June 13, 2017. The International Albinism Awareness Day was commemorated in Dodoma the capital City of Tanzania where the Minister of State in the Prime Ministers’s Officer, Ms. Jenister Mhagama was the Guest of Honor.  This event has been commemorated for the past three years and supported by the United Nations member states around the world who organize public events to observe this day.
